The South Austin Community Gardens (SACG) was founded in January 1994 by Renee Fuqua. Our community is made up of gardeners from diverse backgrounds who share a common commitment to organic gardening.
Since its founding, SACG has grown to include 33 individual plots, a large co-op garden, and an orchard. Here, members gain hands-on experience with organic practices suited to our local environment, exchange knowledge, harvest fresh, healthy produce, and enjoy a strong sense of community.
As a fully organic garden, we avoid synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, harmful chemicals, and genetically modified seeds. Instead, we focus on building healthy soil and gardening in harmony with nature. The main benefit of the garden is the community we have built cultivating not only vegietables, but lasting friendships.
We are located adjacent to the Denizen Condominiums at 2800 S. 5th Street.
